Housing price and rent have been increasing substantially in recent years to a severely unaffordable level in Hong Kong, and there are more than 70,000 households living in sub-divided housing units. Young couples have to defer marriage or ask parents for financial support to make downpayment for home buying. However, different stakeholders have different views on the housing problems. Our forum aims to provide an impartial platform for different stakeholders to deliberate their viewpoints and propose solutions.

The speakers are:

  • Hon Tony Tse Wai-chuen, Legislative Council (Functional Constituency – Architectural, Surveying and Planning)
  • Prof Yip Ngai Ming, Chartered Institute of Housing Asian Pacific Branch
  • Mr Keith Wong, Hong Kong Council of Social Services
  • Mr Lai Kin Kwok, Platform of Concerning Subdivided Flats Issue
  • Prof Sujata Govada, Urban Land Institute
