Research of urban redevelopment models has long been due in Hong Kong, particularly from a cultural standpoint and the urgency of embracing community participation. Initiated by a hospitality group with corporate social responsibility and The RICE LAB, School of Design, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Wan Chai Visual Archive (WVA) takes form both as a cultural incubator in-situ as well as a research project striving to understand the conflicts, opportunities, and possible synergies emerged throughout community redevelopment. It is a non-profit community art space, located in the revitalizing Blue House neighborhood of Hong Kong. Its program of workshops, exhibitions and forums is committed to generate artistic collaboration therefore productive dialogues between old and new, local and foreign, individual and institution.
